“Be less curious about people and more curious about ideas -Madame CurieTo this day, all human accomplishments have been the resultant of merely one entity, “Curiosity”. What’s on the other side of the sea? How does the Earth look from high above? What exists on the dark side of the moon? Before such questions are answered, there exists only a suspicion, a superstition or logic based hypothesis that makes up for our limited imagination, undermining room for further possibilities. But the doubts are only cleared when one gets his facts straight by observing with his own eyes as they say, “Seeing is believing”. The problem however lies with the mindset of the masses. As the above mentioned quote clearly states, even in the modern society, people purposefully misinterpret this marvelous state of mind to meddle with the personal matters of others. Like holding curiosity as a shield, considering everyone’s life a mystery and marching in to solve them like Sherlock while blabbing, “The game is on, Mrs. Hudson!”.
It’s such kind of inquisitiveness for which it is said that, “Curiosity killed the cat”. Actually, timing is of grave importance here, as to when to be curious and when not to be. It is a common observation in horror or thriller movies that whenever something is felt under the bed or odd in the mirror, the protagonist just has to get a peak underneath or look straight into the mirror and well we all know what happens after that! Similarly, you have to put some limit to your thoughts and make peace with what information is being provided to you by the other person rather than being more intrigued and doing pointless digging only to be disappointed at the end.
I know how it feels, it’s like a glitch in the mind, a bug that needs to be debugged, but you have to control it and tame it in order to master this phenomenal art of curiosity. The most important thing is to not let curiosity turn into your foe by some generally ludicrous means and keep converging this energy towards the secrets that don’t mind being revealed to the world, you’ll find your curiosity becoming the base of the pinnacle of your success each and every time.
