Gilgit​ ​Baltistan -The​ ​Valley​ ​of​ ​Heaven


Gilgit Baltistan is the northernmost administrative unit (Since 1970) of Pakistan.It borders Azad Kashmir to the South, The province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the West, The north the Xinjiang region of China to the East and Northeast with India administrated state of Jammu & Kashmir.
Gilgit Baltistan is amalgamation of different Regions, cultures, and religions. Different ethnic Groups like Muslims(Sunni, Shia & Ismailis) And Christians etc also reside in Gilgit. Around 65% of Population is of Shia ethnicity.

Dry Fruits

There are Large Quantities with best qualities of fruits are Available in Gilgit Baltistan.Likewise Apples, Grapes, Apricots, Cherries and Dry fruits (Walnuts, Almonds) etc. Pakistan is The 3rd Largest apricot producing territory of World. These Fruits Use To Make Juices and Dishes.

People

People are very warm and welcoming. And Average age is 110 -120 years (Ma-Sha-Allah) old. Due to Zero Disease rate in Gilgit. People use Freshwater and fresh fruits(in Raw form). Due to excessive quantity of hemoglobin in blood their skin color is Red Gilgit Baltistan locals wear Shalwar​ Narrow fitted around the ankles)and Kameez​ Which is loose fitted and Heel long and Called Kurtani​ ​or Peeran​. Dupatta​ is an Integral part of women dress and both men and women wear special Kinda Cap Which is most Elegant part of the dress of Gilgit Baltistan. Beautiful embroidered Larghi​ Cap with the Traditional piece of jewel is called Silsila​.

Animals

In Gilgit Baltistan, many Endangered species of Mammals and Birds like Snow leopards, Macro​ ​Polo​ Sheep, Blue​ ​Sheep​, Markhor ​(The National animal), Black Bear,  Brown Bear, Chakor (National Bird) and Ram​ ​Chokar​.

Lakes

More than 2000 lakes are found in Gilgit Baltistan because fresh water Come from Karakoram​, Himalaya​, and Hindukush​ and provide Freshwater to other parts of Country.

Polo Festival

Shandur​ Polo​ ​festival​ held in Skardu(Shandur) every year and people from all across the world come up over there to enjoy the festival and to participate in it. These festivals mostly held on harvesting season To Thank ALMIGHTY​ ​ALLAH. Many other games like Cricket, football, Ski are Favorite games of Gilgit. People of Gilgit Baltistan are experts in handicrafts. They do​ ​Dori​ Work and Stone Work.

Rug

Rug​ (special carpet) weaving on Handlooms is another specialty of Gilgit Baltistan (Iraani
qaaleen sy b pyary). The literacy rate is 90% (Ma-Sha-Allah itni parhi likhi awaam) in the Valley. Almost every child is educated up to at least high school level which is far better than other parts of the country. Gilgitiaanz love loud music (Disco type? nahi yaar) and men love to Perform typical dance in regional festivals. Alghani, ​Ajoli​ (used during departure of Bride and Groom from the house), Souse​ is Martial Rhythm and Used Especially in Sword dance And Dani​ is the rhythm which used in Hunza that links To Tibet and Ladakh.
