Individual should understand their importance

Addiction is a curse in any society and unfortunately Pakistan is badly a victim of this curse. Youth of Pakistan is busy to exploit their self by using different kinds of drugs such as “alcohol, hash, heroin, opium, LSD, ESTCY tablets, cigarette and gutka” etc.
“There are only 50 centers of treatment in the city (Lahore) in which 6 of them are government whereas 41 are running by private entities such as NGO's. But most of the centers don’t have good quality treatment program. Addiction do not have long-lasting treatment as per it is manageable disease not curable. Patient came for the treatment then again relapse because of lack of family support, Peer Corporation and motivation”. Says Syed Zulifiqar Hussain Consultant YOCFAN (youth council for antinarcotics).
“My friends belong from a modern family they used to take drugs for publicity stunt so they were very popular among the students. As I was their group fellow and spend more time with them so they started pressurizing me to take drug (heroin) as well otherwise they would cut off me from their group. After few weeks of start taking drugs I realized the values of my family and personality I decide to leave this but after leaving it I start feeling fatigue and prickliness in body which need treatment but because of friends I had to start addiction again. 2 times I faced relapse because of my bad company. And now I can’t live without drugs”. Said Umair Ahsan a student of sociology.
“My parents don’t love me they don’t care about what I want or need they just know how they will be succeed in society how their business can get profit….? They don’t know what can bring smile on their daughter face..? It seems that they even don’t remember that they are a having a daughter of 17 waiting for them at home. It is being 17 years of enduring their negligence now I am sick of this I can’t accept this all any more” Saira asked for help from his college friend Ahsan… “And he offered her a bottle of alcohol to relief her stress then steadily she became addict of this too much that she can’t sleep without taking 2 bottles of alcohol. I feel relaxation and forget my pains after using drugs and become more stable to accept negligence of my parents I don’t want any treatment even don’t want to leave it as it is the best companion of my loneliness”.
“I don’t consider alcohol as drug it is an energy drink for me which help me to recall my good and bad memories” says Ahmed Saleem a pharmacist.
“I started taking drugs in 2010 when I was of age 20 at begging I started it because of curiosity but then gradually it start reliving my pain and help e to recall my memories. I used to buy alcohol from Ambassador Hotel Davis road Lahore in just rupee 300 which is now available in 500 only. Now as I got married so I have specified drugs for the parties only, I feel excite by taking alcohol as I am not a chronic addict so I think when I would be sick of this I would leave it. But at this stage of life it helps me retain my past which is worthy for me so I won’t leave it”. Says Ahmed Saleem
“There are some other reasons for that people start taking drugs such as to escape from responsibilities, for sexual satisfaction and from husband to wife it can be inherent from parents too. For rehabilitation, the most important factor is Family Counseling as well as group therapy and individual counseling is beneficial. Spreading awareness is a good thing but according to the psyche of people 50% people took the awareness of drug as -ve which cause addiction as well”. Says Kubra Imtiaz Clinical psychologist at YOCFAN.
“To get rid from this societal curse government and private organizations must work practically and collectively and there is need to work with having +ve regard. Individual should have to enhance positivity, media and sociology departments should play their role to combat this issue. Being a Consultant of an anti-narcotic NGO I am working on its prevention as well as treatment too. Our Goal is to make Pakistan a drug free country and for that we have made UMT a drug free campus with the help their administration too. We are looking towards on new ideas which can help to combat this issue and can make city drug free”. Says Syed Zulifiqar Consultant YOCFAN. Individual should understand their importance in society as the youth of any nation is a treasure for that nation or state. And would work collectively with organizations. Healthy people can bring prosperity in the state.
