Self-control is the ability to control one’s emotions over things that are way too much to bear. It is the capacity of a person to permeate of goodness instead of otherwise. It is the projection of pure discipline and maturity. self-control is a fruit of the spirit it develops as we spent time fellowshipping with God and practicing obedience to him. Sometimes we would be rather that God control us and make us do the right things but he wants us to rule over our spirit.
Like a muscle, the more you exercise the self-control on a consistent basis, the stronger you get. As your self-control increases the more you gain the ability to direct your life in a manner that is congruent with the true you. The more congruent your actions are with your thoughts and feelings, the better you feel about yourself and the decisions u make every time you feel good about a decision you make, it raises your self-esteem and your self-confidence you also reinforce in your mind what u are capable of and it make less difficult to make similar decisions in life. Self-control is the path of reveal pleasure. It enables us to proceed on the path of justice and to give up the vices of our character. God has blessed man with the power and ability of judgement. Man possesses wisdom and will power it is for him whether he wants to follow the path of honesty or evil. Evil attracts men more quickly than the virtues. The path of evil might take easier but in the long run it is virtues than win over the vices.Only, if we exercise self-control we can save ourselves from the temptations of evil and follow a virtuous path. According to the philosophy human body is like a chariot. All the senses are like horses and the mind is like the charioteer, intelligence is the bridle of the horses and the soul is the owner of this moving vehicle. If the senses like horses become out of the control than they can easily destroy the chariot. Keeping this fact of life in views we should always try to control our senses, need to develop a rich value system for the inculcation of will power and the self-control. Vices like anger, hatred, violence, idleness, ego and greed etc. must be given up and the values like truth, love and nonviolence must be adopted.
If the mind and the heart of the person become weak and soul falls to command the instincts, then the person become the self-centered and does not care the welfare of others. Members of every social group develop hatred for such individuals. Social evils are increasing day by day in the present-day world. Do you know the reason? It is because of lack of self-control. A person once caught in a stream, find it difficult to come out, so self-control is much necessary for the proper development. If you are able to achieve self-control you won the half battle. The person can achieve anything if he controls on his emotions. By controlling self men can take decisions easily he can easily express their feeling. He can easily give their opinion. Person can also achieve self-control if he stops and think what is going to happened. Self-control is the quality that allows you to stop yourself from doing things you want to do but that might not be in your interest. For example, if you don’t have self-control you may rude to everyone.
Quaid-e-Azam has tremendous self-control, by virtue of which, he established his personality in the whole world. The entire India shaken by his might. There is innumerable example of those personality who fought to control their self and winning over it, developed the potential of winning over the world.
